A Big Sur engagement session will ALWAYS have my heart! And Julie & Enrique were definitely no exception! From climbing massive rocks to jumping into the freezing cold Pacific ocean, these two absolutely nailed their engagement photos.

Julie and Enrique originally inquired with me to photograph their big day. I love doing engagement session with my wedding clients because I get to meet and get comfortable with them! We’re able to hang out, have some fun, and of course get some fantastic photos for them to remember this special time in their lives. After they inquired with me, we hit it off instantly and I loved Julie’s vibe so much. I’m telling you, I had been looking forward to their Big Sur engagement session since the moment they booked me!
Another thing I really loved about them was that they truly valued photography. They explained to me how they combed through quite a few California wedding photographers before they finally decided to go with Sadie Mak. It really warmed my heart how much they loved my photos and could picture themselves in them! I can’t even explain how much I love when couples book me because they love me and my work, not just because they’re checking “book wedding photographer” off of their planning list. When you book me as your photographer, you’re getting a friend, a planning assistant, and someone to make you laugh throughout the whole process!
When it was time to take their Big Sur engagement photos…
I couldn’t WAIT to hang out with them. It was a beautifully overcast day, which is one of my favorite climates to photograph in (if you want to see a sunnier Big Sur engagement session, check out Natalie & Kyle’s!). Julie was a little apprehensive about it being windy and cold, but those nerves quickly melted away once we started taking photos. One thing about me is that I’m gonna be goofy and silly throughout your entire session, so there won’t be any nerves in sight! That’s how we ended up getting all these amazing, natural candids… maybe I should switch careers and become a comedian?!
ANYWAYS!! If you love the way their candids turned out, I guess you’ll just have to book me and hear all my great jokes in person. Julie and Enrique were so stinkin’ cute throughout their entire session, I totally fell in love with their dynamic. They were such troopers even though it was a chilly California day, and I’m honestly so glad they did because I’m obsessed with the way their photos turned out. They put their complete trust in me as their Big Sur tour guide and let me take them to all my favorite places. I had them climb a pretty intimidating rock, and I’m not gonna lie, it’s a little scary when you’re up there. But they didn’t let anything stop them from getting the best photos!
We ended their session at my favorite Big Sur beach, and you won’t believe what these two did. After already being freezing their entire session, these adventurous souls jumped into the water! I loved their dedication to my vision and suggestions, it showed that they had complete trust in me as their photographer. And the payoff was that they got Big Sur engagement photos that they LOVED!!
