We’re mixing it up this time – I’m here to show you Cassie & Isaac’s Santa Cruz engagement photos! This engagement session was a hit between their outfits, the location, and bringing their dog. Plus, it took me to a place I don’t usually travel to! You know how much I love Big Sur for engagement photos, but Santa Cruz was such a fun and beautiful trip.

When Cassie inquired with me, she was reaching out for me to shoot her wedding. We got to chatting and realized we were a great fit – I loved her immediately! I offer various wedding packages, and she booked one that included an engagement session. It was super obvious that Cassie valued photography and wanted as many memories documented as possible during this special time in their lives! We clicked instantly and consistently kept in touch leading up to their Santa Cruz engagement session. Of course, we talked a lot of wedding talk, and I loved helping her plan things!
When it was finally time to take their Santa Cruz engagement photos, I felt like I already knew her and I was just going to meet up and take pictures with a friend. How cool is that? I’m so lucky to have a job where my clients become my friends. And I get to be there for the most important day of their lives!
Spoiler alert: They brought their dog!
Anyways, getting back to their session, I was pleasantly surprised to find that they brought their adorable little pup, Zoey! She was the most well-behaved (and cutest!) Frenchie I’d ever seen. I love when couples bring their furry friends to their engagement session. If you want to incorporate your pup like Cassie and Isaac did, I have a tip for you! The best way to include them is to bring a helping hand for when they’re not in the photos. Isaac’s brother and girlfriend tagged along in Santa Cruz to babysit Zoey while we shot the rest of their engagement photos. We started out the shoot with Zoey, and I couldn’t get over how cute their little family is!!
During their engagement session in Santa Cruz, we talked more about how wedding planning was going. I seriously love hearing everyone’s plans for their big day and getting all excited with you! I cannot wait to celebrate with them on their wedding day, and I’m so glad we got to connect and meet in person beforehand. We ended up hiking one mile to this Santa Cruz location and then hiked another mile back. If you’re planning on dressing up for your engagement photos, be sure to bring comfy shoes for the trek there and back!
